Access to vocational and skills-based training across East Africa is often limited by geography: quality short courses are concentrated in major cities, leaving learners in smaller towns and rural areas with far fewer options. Institutions wanted a way to extend their reach without duplicating physical infrastructure.
Our Approach
Magilatech built VSOMO, a digital learning platform purpose-built for vocational short courses, designed from the outset to work in both offline and online modes so learners with inconsistent connectivity are not excluded. The platform supports course delivery, assessment and certification, and was built alongside BESP for entrepreneurship skills training to give institutions a connected suite rather than a single point tool.
What Changed
Institutions using VSOMO have been able to extend vocational training to learners well beyond their physical campuses, with offline-capable delivery ensuring coursework continues even where connectivity is unreliable. The platform has become one of Magilatech’s flagship products precisely because it was built for the operational realities of the region, not adapted from a generic e-learning template.
Why It Matters
